Kehlani ‘looked like a clown’ after trying contouring for the first time

Kehlani has admitted it took her a while to master the art of contouring.

In a new beauty tutorial for, the singer/songwriter divulged her skincare secrets and revealed that she previously struggled to grasp how to shape her face with her favourite NARS concealer.

“At first I came out looking like a clown,” she joked, before explaining that she now skips contouring her nose and focuses instead on her cheekbones.

For her usual routine, the 25-year-old begins by prepping her face with the PCA SKIN Creamy Cleanser followed by the Aqua Bomb Hydrating Toner and Mist from Belif.

“I have really, really dry skin. I have to make sure that I continuously keep layering hydration,” Kehlani stated, while patting on a layer of Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Hydration Booster serum, along with snail mucin essence from Korean beauty brand Cosrx.

She then finishes her skincare regime with Paula’s Choice Omega Complex Moisturizer, adding in a few drops of the Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil for extra hydration, before topping it all off with an SPF.

Kehlani then applies Pat McGrath Labs’ Long-Lasting Foundation, and uses NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer to contour and highlight, followed by Fenty Beauty Match Stix on her cheekbones.

Next up, the Good Life hitmaker focuses on her eyes, and uses Benefit Cosmetics’ cult product Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Eyebrow Gel to tame her brows.

“My eyebrows haven’t been done in centuries,” the star confessed, as she then swiped on a combination of Lancome’s Hypnose Doll Eyes and KVD Vegan Beauty’s Go Big or Go Home mascara onto her lashes.

And while completing her look with Urban Decay’s iconic All-Nighter Long-Lasting Setting Spray, Kehlani revealed that fellow rapper Cardi B once gave her a top tip on looking after her facial piercings following a performance.

“I sit down, and she goes, ‘You better clean your nose ring,’” she recalled.
