Kate Hudson has fulfilled a lifelong ambition with the release of her new clothing line.
The Almost Famous actress, who also co-founded the athletic line Fabletics in 2013, launched her first ever ready-to-wear collection, Happy x Nature (Happy By Nature), earlier this month (Apr19).
During an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the star confessed that the project has been a dream to work on.
“I’ve always wanted to do (a clothing line),” the 39-year-old told the publication. “I started working on this a year ago, I wanted to do it for a real long time. When you have people who really want you to endorse their brands, at some point you realize you just want to do it for yourself.”
The collection comprises countless printed sundresses made of recycled cotton, as well as knit sets, prairie blouses, and boot-cut denim, which is made with Repreve, a leading recycled fibre made from plastic bottles.
Reflecting on her desire to create a brand that is “authentic,” the star revealed that she wanted the range to be both stylish and sustainable, and suggested she is keen to pioneer the movement for responsible fashion going forward.
“We tried to keep the carbon footprint as low as possible,” the Bride Wars star said. “I just hope this becomes so successful that every brand starts rethinking the way they do things.
“It feels like a responsibility in fashion now,” she concluded.
The Happy x Nature line collection is priced between $48 (£37) to $148 (£113) and is available online now.
