Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Veep outfits to go under the hammer

by #People

Outfits worn by Julia Louis-Dreyfus on her hit TV show Veep are set to go up for auction.

The HBO political satire came to an end on Sunday after seven seasons, and now fans can bid on the wardrobe of fictional U.S. President Selina Meyer.

The collection features her iconic red dresses, handbags and shoes designed by the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Victoria Beckham, Carolina Herrera, Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin.

Outfits worn by other cast members are also going under the hammer, with prices slashed by up to 70 percent in the auction on Screenbid.com.

And while Julia’s character has changed over the course of seven seasons, her style has not.

“I feel like the real world is trying to catch up with Veep,” costume designer Kathleen Felix-Hager explained, according to WWD. “But people have been more inspired in the real world to be braver in choice of colour, and that’s been nice to see. If you can express yourself in a fun way and don’t feel like you have to blend in, it’s a step in the right direction.”

Although the auction includes more than 1,000 items, there is one piece of Veep memorabilia mysteriously missing from the auction – Selina’s signature Celine Edge bag.

“Miss JLD has that in her possession,” Kathleen confessed. “There were some things special to her, so she took a small assortment for her personal memories.”

Jeffrey Dash, chief executive officer of Screenbid, said in a statement he was “excited” for the collection to finally be available to fans of the show.

The online auction concludes on 1 June, and an official Studio Certificate of Authenticity will be provided by HBO for all items sold.
