Jessica Simpson planning to add pet wear and furniture to her fashion empire

Pop star and actress turned entrepreneur Jessica Simpson has dreams of expanding her fashion empire to include furniture and pet accessories.

The Dukes of Hazzard star has already cornered the market in footwear and clothing and now she has grand designs to become a decor duchess.

Launching her spring collection at a charity fashion show in her native Waco, Texas on Monday (08May17) with her mum Tina and sister Ashlee by her side, Jessica told news show Extra she has big ideas for the future of her billion-dollar fashion empire.

Wearing a black mini dress from her own collection, the 36-year-old said, “I wanna go everywhere with it (fashion label). It is just the beginning. We’ve got to make furniture, dog clothes… why not?”

And she confessed she had no idea her fashion ideas would become so popular when she started out designing: “My mom and I were just having fun putting together outfits and knowing every body type and what they would like and what they would look good in,” she explained.

Now that her spring collection is out, the mum-of-two, who is married to former footballer Eric Johnson, is working on her pre-fashion career as a singer and actress, revealing she has been working on new music for a year and a half: “Acting and music is definitely happening – it’s happening this year,” she said.

There were no more details, but last year (16) Jessica, who hasn’t released new music in seven years, was reported to be the middle of secret talks to headline a residency in Las Vegas.

“She’s hell-bent on landing a Vegas residency,” one insider told In Touch. “With state-of-the art technology and backdrops paired with her sex appeal, she thinks she can give the other headliners a run for their money. After 20 years in the music business, Jess is excited to follow her dreams and become a Vegas legend.”

Meanwhile, the singer has turned the basement of her California home into a recording studio and she has been working on her comeback with former 4 Non Blondes singer Linda Perry.
