Jennifer Lopez is “a little heartbroken” after the coronavirus pandemic ruined her plans to wed fiance Alex Rodriguez this summer.
The superstar had reportedly been gearing up to tie the knot with retired baseball ace A-Rod in Italy, but she previously confessed the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak had left the couple, like so many other brides and grooms-to-be, in a “holding pattern”.
J.Lo is saddened she and Rodriguez won’t be able to celebrate their love with friends and family any time soon, especially as they had cleared their busy schedules to ensure they would be able to enjoy the traditional honeymoon period.
“There’s no planning right now. You just have to kind of wait and see how this all plays out,” she shrugged on U.S. breakfast show Today.
“It’s disappointing on one level, you know, after the Super Bowl (Halftime Show performance) and after (filming reality competition) World of Dance… I planned to take time off, which is what we’re doing kind of right now, but at the same time, you know, we had a lot of plans for this summer and this year but, everything’s kinda on hold right now.”
However, Lopez is trying to remain positive about the unexpected change of plans.
“I’m a little heartbroken because we did have some great plans, but I’m also like, ‘You know what? God has a bigger plan so we just have to wait and see.’ Maybe it’s going to be better. I have to believe that it will be.”
The couple became engaged in March, 2019 after two years together.
The marriage will be Lopez’s fourth, following unions to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd, and Marc Anthony – the father of her twins Max and Emme, while Rodriguez was previously married to Cynthia Scurtis, the mother of his daughters Ella and Natasha, from 2002 to 2008.
