Jack Black labels early retirement reports ‘fake news’

Jack Black has hit back at reports he’s retiring following his latest movie Jumanji: The Next Level, labelling the headlines “fake news”.

The actor and singer was interviewed recently by Balance, and stated: “I’ve been saying for a long time that (Jumanji) is the last movie. We’ll see. I’m looking to wrap it up pretty soon. Ride off into the sunset.”

The remarks prompted publications around the world to report on Jack’s planned retirement, but the 50-year-old has now set the record straight in a chat with Entertainment Tonight.

Calling the speculation “fake news”, Jack explained: “I’m not retiring. I’m not going anywhere. I’m only getting started.”

In the interview with Balance, the screen star had said he was thinking about taking on a TV role in order to be closer to his wife Tanya and their two sons.

“That is a big part of it. I don’t like going away from Tanya and the boys,” he said. “I spend too much time away from home. Maybe I’ll do a TV show here in town, so I can work the nine to five and then get back home.

“We’ll see. I’m not a big five-year plan kind of guy though. I don’t really look down the road. I kind of take it day by day.”
