Grimes tapped to front Adidas by Stella McCartney campaign


Grimes has been tapped to star in the latest Adidas by Stella McCartney campaign.

The Canadian singer-songwriter, born Claire Elise Boucher, previously teamed up with the British designer back in 2016 when she appeared in the imagery for her fragrance, Pop, which also starred Lourdes Leon, Amandla Stenberg, and Kenya Kinski-Jones.

Now, Grimes has partnered with McCartney to showcase her fall/winter 2019 line for the German sportswear giant.

“Grimes is the perfect embodiment of the Adidas by Stella McCartney core values,” the designer said of the 31-year-old. “She is passionate and outspoken about protecting the planet, and a true trailblazer for pushing creative boundaries and inspiring women to unlock their potential in all aspects of their lives.”

Balancing McCartney’s eco-friendly ethos, the collection incorporates cutting-edge fabrics and an earth-toned colour palette.

Core piece includes the new Warpknit Long Sleeve, a high-performance knitted garment with open hole structure to help athletes stay cool during intense workouts, the Light Jacket and Run M20 Short, which are constructed with light, recycled polyester.

In the futuristic photoshoot, Grimes models the pieces while posing in front of a rocky terrain and on a deserted beach.

“Performance and style are at the heart of every piece Adidas by Stella McCartney creates, but we believe that this shouldn’t come at a cost to the planet. Our focus for this collection was to incorporate fabrics that help us get one step closer to our future goal of high-performing, sustainable performance wear,” added McCartney.

Select pieces are available on the Adidas and Stella McCartney websites from 15 July, with more items set to drop in September.
