Grimes has shared details of her unusual fitness regime, which includes up to two hours of sword-fighting.
The Canadian singer-songwriter, who is the face of the Adidas x Stella McCartney campaign for fall/winter 2019, took to her Instagram on Monday to share details about her unorthodox routine, which also includes hours in a sensory deprivation tank and a screaming session.
“My training is a 360 approach. I first maintain a healthy cellular routine where I maximise the function of my mitochondria with supplements such as NAD+, Acetyl L-Carnitine, Magnesium, etc. This helps promote ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) and it’s incredibly visceral,” she wrote. “From that point, I spend two-four hours in my deprivation tank, this allows me to ‘astro-glide’ to other dimensions – past, present, and future. In the afternoons, I do a one-two hour sword fighting session with my trainer, James Lew, we go over the fundamentals that work the obliques, core stabilises, and triceps as well as a few tricks.”
And following that intense session, Grimes chooses to hike on an incline for an additional 30-45 minutes as means of “winding down” before spending time stretching.
She will then head into a studio where she takes part in “a screaming session for 20-25 minutes while I slow boil the honey tea that maximises vocal proficiency.”
In addition, Grimes claimed she had “eliminated all blue light” from her vision through experimental surgery in order to cure her seasonal depression, and she goes to sleep with a humidifier on.
Her quirky routine drew admiration from some of her fellow musicians.
Mushaboom singer Feist commented, “This is my favourite thing I’ve ever read on the Internet,” while Katy Perry wrote: “Humidifiers YAS.”
