Drew Barrymore loved having red hair in early 2000s

Drew Barrymore adored the bright red shade she dyed her hair in the early 2000s.

The Never Been Kissed actress is quite the style chameleon, and over the years, has experimented with all sorts of hair colours, ranging from platinum blonde to auburn and brunette.

Reflecting on her constantly changing locks in an interview for the September 2019 issue of U.S. InStyle magazine, Drew pinpointed the crimson hair colour she had for the cover of the September 2000 issue as one of her favourite hues.

“My hair had grown out. Hair is obviously a very big thing with me. That time it was red; I just love red-toned hair. It’s so flattering to the skin. If I ever see a redheaded girl, I’m like, ‘She’s so hot,'” she commented to the publication. “Matthew Rolston shot that cover. He was a good friend of mine, and I think it’s nice when a photographer makes you look like yourself. It’s always alarming when you see photos and think, ‘That doesn’t look like me.'”

Drew, who currently has honey-blonde locks, went on to recall another hair-related memory from her first InStyle cover shoot in 1999 when she was having the “worst hair day” and relied upon the hairstylists to get her ready for a date that evening.

“I actually had a date that night with an actor. I was so excited to go on a date with this guy with good hair, but it turned out that the hair was much better than the date,” the 44-year-old remembered.

Elsewhere in the chat, Drew spoke about how she felt the most beautiful following the birth of her daughters Olive, six, and Frankie, five, who she shares with ex-husband Will Kopelman.

While her figure has changed after having children, the star wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I was built to have these girls, and I have never fallen prey to the Hollywood stigma about how a woman is supposed to look. That’s the dumbest thing. I love girls and women. They rule my universe,” she added.
