Orange is the New Black star Danielle Brooks has launched her first plus-size clothing range so all women can look sleek and feel sexy over the holidays.
The actress and singer teamed up with Universal Standard to launch the new collection for curvy women in September (17), and she’s thrilled with the finished product, which includes three styles she has been living in for weeks.
“(We needed) choices,” she said during an appearance on U.S. TV host Steve Harvey’s talk show on Monday (11Dec17). “We wanna be able to walk into any store and feel like we can get anything from the store.
“We wanna be able to wear things that are quality, things that will last, timeless pieces. There are the three (designs) that I came up with that I knew that I wanted, I knew that they could go from day to night… They go from size 10 to 28, and this is great for the holidays, Christmas is coming up.”
Danielle went on to point out that 67 per cent of women in America are plus-size, adding, “That’s size 12 and above and this is my beginning stages of trying to bring more options to women that are curvy, so hopefully y’all like it and buy it for your mom or your auntie or yourself, your best friend…”
The star announced the venture in mid-September (17), when she took to Instagram to post a photo of herself wearing a crimson off-the-shoulder knit dress over a white shirt.
“THE DAY HAS COME I’m designing @universalstandard’s new Tria Collection!” she gushed in the picture caption. “Beyond excited about this collaboration with this amazing brand! You’ll soon be able to shop this look and a few others. Can’t wait to show you more.
The line became available to purchase in mid-November (17) and is part of Universal Standard’s initiative to encourage women to design three pieces of clothing which they wish they had but can’t find.
