Danielle Brooks gets a rush seeing women in her designs

Danielle Brooks loves nothing more than seeing women wearing clothes she’s designed.

The Orange Is the New Black actress teamed up with Universal Standard to launch her Tria Collection late last year (17), and she still finds herself overcome with excitement whenever she sees someone in one of the looks she came up with.

“It’s wonderful,” she told People of the collection. “The thing that gets me going is seeing women wearing the clothing that I designed. It’s for the party girls to feel beautiful and to go from night and day.”

Danielle was just one of the famous faces at the recent Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, where she looked stunning in a Marc Bouwer red and black sequined gown. With her make-up and hair perfectly complementing her ensemble, Danielle looked picture-perfect for the star-studded ceremony and admitted she was glad to be out of the prison jumpsuit she has to wear to play Taystee on the hit Netflix series.

“We don’t have to wear prison clothes. I can actually look like something today,” Danielle smiled, adding that she was looking forward to “dancing and changing my clothes” after the awards ceremony.

However, Danielle laughed that she’s not sure whether she’d want Taystee to ditch the prison clothes forever – as that might mean the end of her regular pay cheques.

“I mean, of course, I want her to get out of prison. (But) then I wouldn’t get a cheque, so I don’t know,” the 28-year-old laughed. “I just want her to get justice that she’s always wanted, that’s what I would want for her.”
