Chrissy Teigen was entirely unperturbed as she was accosted by a fur protester screaming that she was a “heartless murderer” while arriving for a New York charity event on Tuesday night (30Apr19).
The Lip Sync Battle star arrived to Cipriani 42nd Street to co-host the City Harvest: The 2019 Gala event, honouring Richard Gere, when activist Rob Banks unleashed a tirade of fury on her.
In a video obtained by TMZ, Banks can be heard shouting: “Chrissy, you should be ashamed of yourself for wearing real fur. Shame on you, you heartless murderer. You’re a fur hag. Shame on you Chrissy, shame on you for wearing real fur. You’re a heartless human being, you’re heartless. Shame on you, you heartless murderer. Why do you hate animals so much, huh? Why do you hate animals, you heartless, ugly jerk?”
As Banks continued his rant, Chrissy could be seen continuing as normal, flashing a smile as she posed for photographs with other guests outside the event.
While Chrissy hasn’t been pictured wearing fur for some time, she was photographed back in 2015 sporting a $19,900 (£15,250) Saint Laurent fur coat with leather sleeves – an item also sported by Kendall Jenner on a separate occasion.
Meanwhile, ahead of the City Harvest gala, Chrissy spoke to Entertainment Tonight about how she’s instilling the importance of giving back to her two children with husband John Legend – Luna, three, and 11-month-old Miles.
“Luna’s just gotten into starting to be able to walk and talk and actually vocalise things,” she explained. “In L.A. we do a ton of donations to Baby2Baby every single day. We have a pile of things that we love to giveaway, and I just feel like, already very young, she’s excited to be able to share her things with people and knows there’s people that are less fortunate than her. She’s happy to support them, honestly. So, I’m happy.”
