Cardi B has given her sprawling peacock tattoo a makeover after 10 years.
The Bodak Yellow rapper revealed to her Instagram followers on Monday that she had endured “hours of pain” at the hands of California-based tattoo artist Jamie Schene for the past seven days to give her massive piece of body art an overhaul.
She shared a before and after comparison on Instagram, with the image showing how her old tattoo, which begins at her lower back, covers her right butt cheek, and extends down the back and side of her right thigh, had become dull and faded.
Yet, the update looks vibrant and colourful – besides brightening up the original design, Schene also added more details on the peacock, new floral motifs, and a pink butterfly.
“So after ten years I gave my peacock tattoo a makeover. This whole week I been takin hours of pain getting tatted (sic),” she wrote in the caption. “Thank you @jamie_schene.”
Schene also shared the same snap on his Instagram page and praised Cardi for taking the pain.
“I gave Cardi’s peacock a makeover! Thanks for the trust @iamcardib You’re (sic) strength and determination is inspiring. (Getting tattooed for 7 days in a row is no joke),” he posted.
The 27-year-old showed off the new tattoo in all its glory by uploading an image of her posing in a white bikini and heels. She also surprised fans by rocking a short hot pink hairstyle.
The body art marks the latest collaboration between Cardi and the tattoo artist. Back in May, she unveiled an elaborate tattoo comprised of colourful flowers and birds which begins at the top of her back and ends at the back of her left thigh. In the caption, she revealed the process took “several months”.
