Cardi B and her husband Offset “edit” each other’s red carpet outfits.
The Bodak Yellow rapper and the Migos star have access to all of the top designers and always pull out all of the stops when it comes to dressing for Hollywood events.
But Cardi has now admitted that she and Offset don’t always agree on fashion.
“(Offset’s) style is real hypebeast. Sometimes we disagree on somethings. We (edit) each other, sometimes it’s like, ‘Who dressed better?’” she said at Vogue’s recent Forces of Fashion conference. “But when an outfit is really good, we give each other so much compliments. We are our biggest fans to each other (sic).”
Cardi has always had an eye for clothes, however, it wasn’t until she discovered her stylist Kollin Carter that she really started taking her looks to the next level.
“It started when I did a magazine cover for Fader and I met him, and I was a little hard on him, because I’ve got a certain type of body – I’m skinny but I’ve got big boobs and a big butt – so certain things just made my body look a little weird. I liked how he was so determined, I liked how he had a solution for everything. And we just started working with each other ever since,” the 27-year-old recalled.
Elsewhere in the chat, Cardi shared that the first big designer purchase she made was a Gucci raincoat which cost around $6,000 (£4,645), and also explained how she enjoys pushing sartorial boundaries.
“Every outfit for me is such a risk, and so, sometimes something I would consider fashion, maybe the people won’t consider fashion. But at the end of the day, I’ve got to put on what I like,” she insisted.
