Camila Cabello swears daily meditation has helped her to combat anxiety.
The Havana singer, who has been candid with her fans about her battle with anxiety, wrote a lengthy Instagram post on Monday in which she shared how practicing meditation every day has helped her to manage her emotions.
“Meditation has changed my life in the last few months. I didn’t share this with you guys at the time because honestly, I was just trying to be okay, but I was experiencing severe anxiety,” she wrote alongside a picture of her meditating while sat cross-legged on an outdoor chair. “It was meditation – it was practicing every single day multiple times a day that has been healing me, and, more than just helping me manage strong emotions like anxiety and stress, it’s making me a better human.”
Camila then encouraged her followers to try taking 10 minutes out of their day to give meditation a whirl using the Calm app or guided sessions on YouTube. She insisted this could aid those dealing with stress and anxiety due to the coronavirus pandemic, as well as to help them feel more empathy and compassion for others during the crisis.
“Close your eyes and sit with your spine upright and feel gravity grounding your body to the earth’s surface and supporting you,” the 23-year-old advised. “Take three deep breaths and then begin to just notice the natural flow of your breath. Being aware of breathing in, breathing out. Following every inhale and exhale with your attention. Once your mind has stilled. Picture every human in the world right now… and say, ‘May you be healthy. May you be safe. May you be free from illness. May you be well.’ Repeat until you really feel it in your heart.”
Camila had been in the middle of filming the new Cinderella movie musical, though production was recently shut down in light of the outbreak.
