Blake Shelton is planning on bringing back his old mullet hairstyle.

The country music star, who sported the iconic look in the early 2000s, announced to fans on Twitter on Tuesday that he was bringing back the hairstyle, in which the hair is cut short at the front but left long in the back, as a “symbol of hope” amid the global coronavirus crisis.

“I have an announcement. With basically EVERYTHING I had scheduled being cancelled for the foreseeable further @gwenstefani and I have made a decision together,” he tweeted. “I am growing my mullet back as a symbol of hope or some s**t like that. Anyway, it’s coming back! For real. Stay tuned…”

Gwen Stefani, who has been dating the musician since 2015, is yet to publicly confirm if she is onboard with Blake’s mullet plan, but one of his fellow judges on The Voice U.S. seemed keen on the idea.

“I think this may be the cure we’ve been searching for!” John Legend tweeted.

However, the announcement divided his fans, with one user writing, “Don’t do it cowboy. You look way better with short hair,” and another posting, “Please say this is a joke.”

Others were more supportive though, with one tweeting, “We will need weekly updates! Great idea!”

Blake, who was named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2017, famously sported a mullet for the first few years of his career before chopping off the long locks and going for a short look.

During a 2017 appearance on America’s TODAY Show, the 43-year-old looked at throwback pictures of himself with the mullet and couldn’t help but laugh at his old hairstyle.

“I mean, that is ridiculous… Why didn’t my family or friends or somebody tell me how stupid I looked?” he responded.
