Ryan Reynolds can’t stop marvelling over the one-of-a-kind painting about his childhood his wife Blake Lively commissioned as a surprise gift.
The Deadpool actor took to Instagram to gush about the piece by Los Angeles-based artist Danny Galieote, which features a young paper delivery boy figure throwing a newspaper towards a house.
“My first job was delivering newspapers for the Vancouver Sun,” Ryan wrote on Thursday in a caption attached to images of the artwork, which show him beaming next to the painting. “The house in the painting is my childhood home. My brothers and I spent years trying to kill each other on that lawn. There are a lot of Easter eggs in the painting, including my idol, John Candy on the front page of the newspaper.
“The house no longer stands but it’s a living, breathing thing in my head. This piece of art is the greatest present my wife has ever given me. It was created by @dannygalieote. If there’s ever a fire, I’m grabbing this first. I’ll come back for Blake.”
It’s not certain what prompted the Gossip Girl star to give the generous gift, as Ryan’s birthday is in October.
The actor’s followers were quick to heap praise on Blake, with her close friend America Ferrera commenting on the post. “That’s the sweetest. She’s the best gift giver ever,” the Ugly Betty star wrote.
Ryan and pregnant actress Blake have been married since September 2012. The couple shares two children together and the actors announced in May they are expecting a third.
