Billy Porter and Cardi B dominate Google’s 2019 red carpet searches

Billy Porter and Cardi B have dominated Google’s list of red carpet searches for 2019.

Analysts at the search engine have released their annual Year in Search report, with the Pose star nabbing the top spot.

In recent years, the actor has built up a reputation for his extravagant ensembles, with notable outfits including the Christian Siriano tuxedo ballgown he wore to the Academy Awards in February and the Cleopatra-inspired sequinned jumpsuit with 10-foot wings he debuted at the Met Gala in May.

Cardi landed in second place, with the Bodak Yellow rapper having made some serious sartorial choices in the past 12 months, such as the vintage Mugler ensemble she donned for the Grammy Awards and the oxblood red gown by Thom Browne that she chose for the Met Gala.

Boundary-pushing fashionista Lady Gaga took the third sport, which is perhaps unsurprising considering the interest she garnered online when she sported four different Brandon Maxwell outfits to the Met Gala, as well as a stunning strapless black Alexander McQueen ballgown to the Oscars, where she was nominated for her performance in A Star Is Born.

Interestingly, Gaga was followed on the list by “Amy Schumer husband”. The comedy star’s husband Chris Fischer attended several red carpet events with her this year, while Jenny McCarthy took fifth place and K-pop sensation BTS ranked sixth. Caitlyn Jenner, Richard Madden, Brie Larson, and “Brienne of Tarth” – also known as Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie – rounded out the top 10.

Among the Fashion Style searches for 2019 were topics such as “camp style”, “Egirl style”, “Eboy style”, and “Steampunk style”, while biker shorts, white jeans, and leather trousers were also top search terms.
