Ariana Grande designed fragrance bottle to reflect message of Thank U, Next

Ariana Grande was inspired to design a perfume bottle in the shape of a broken heart to reflect the message of her break-up anthem Thank U, Next.

The 7 Rings hitmaker has partnered with LUXE Brands bosses to launch THANK U, NEXT, the fourth in her line of fragrances which also includes Ari, Sweet Like Candy, and Cloud.

The new perfume bottle is surrounded by a pink broken heart, and Ariana explained that its design was inspired by the empowering message of her 2018 track.

“I wanted to make a fragrance that smells related to my first fragrance Ari but more summery, so I revisited Ari’s fruity pear and raspberry notes and changed it up by adding some coconut,” Ariana said in a statement. “I was inspired to design a bottle that represented the message of my song, Thank U, Next – the emergence of the perfume from the broken heart represents moving forward from a challenging chapter.”

“Ariana’s creative vision for THANK U, NEXT perfectly communicates the combination of sexiness and sweetness, while cleverly conveying the details of Ariana’s latest fragrance in a fresh, modern way that is both authentic to Ari and unique to the category,” added Noreen Dodge, Chief Marketing Officer of LUXE Brands.

Thank U, Next was a tribute to her ex-boyfriends, and included lyrics about the 26-year-old former fiance Pete Davidson, ex Big Sean and the late Mac Miller, who died in September last year.

Crafted by Robertet’s Jerome Epinette, the perfumer and artisan behind Byredo and Atelier Cologne, the new scent features notes of white pear and wild raspberry, creme de coconut, rose petals, and velvet musk.

Ariana’s perfume Cloud recently won the Fragrance of the Year award in the Women’s Popular category at the Fragrance Foundation awards, beating hugely popular scents from Britney Spears and Kim Kardashian.

The new fragrance will be released exclusively for online shoppers on Ulta.com from 18 August, two weeks before it hits Ulta Beauty stores in the U.S. and Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada. Prices start at $42 (£35).
