Goodluck have certainly made the most of their time in lockdown. Not only is their Facebook live series ‘The Luck Down’ incredibly popular, but they’re also using this time to release new music. The group recently released ‘What Next’, a song about one’s impact on the climate and the world around us and now, they’ve teamed up with Dutch hitmaker Kav Verhouzer for a hot new single titled ‘Rum & Cola’ – and it’s officially made us miss summer.
‘Rum & Cola’ is, just as the name suggests, a song about keeping it light and enjoying the simple things in life. The deep house beat is uplifting and progressive with subtle touches of that old-school Chicago House piano sound that we all grew up loving! So, marry that sound with a sultry pop vocal and catchy lyrics, and you have a local, and global hit knocking at the door.
Goodluck’s Jules Harding admits that the group has been performing this song for a while now and it seems to have really resonated with audiences around the globe. So, they fine-tuned the single and have decided to use their time in lockdown to promote this as their new single. “I think we noticed that there was something special about this tune when we were performing it live on our Summer tours in South Africa,” Jules says. “We noticed the crowd would be singing along by the second chorus which is very unusual when you are performing a song live for the first time!”
Kav Verhouzer adds “We just want to help everyone feel a little bit better. It’s tough out there at the moment, and we are hoping to bring a bit of light and happiness to people through this single.”
