BREAKING: Gangs Of Ballet Call It Quits

Ever since they burst onto the scene back in 2011, Gangs Of Ballet have continuously delivered hit singles and added a different, fresh sound to the South African music space. Throughout their seven-year career, the group released hits such as ‘Something,’ ‘Follow,’ ‘Don’t Let Me Go,’ and ‘Hello Sweet World’. However, the group (made up of Brad Klynsmith, Jonathan Rich and Josh Klynsmith) has decided that it’s time to move on in a heart-warming announcement on Facebook – and we’re devastated.

“Although we always knew this moment would come, nothing quite prepares you for closing a chapter. Nonetheless, the time has arrived for us to announce (with both sadness and excitement) that we are officially ending Gangs of Ballet,” the group says.

While the decision has not come lightly, the group has decided that in order for the band members to grow, the group would have to come to an end and the disbandment is strategic yet incredibly difficult for the group.

Gangs of Ballet were one of the most successful acts in the pop/rock space and are incredibly appreciative of the love and support they’ve received throughout their career. “We have been part of a very small percentage of musicians who have actively lived off their craft for years and are so grateful we were able to do that. We’ve travelled and explored this country of ours, from the quiet corners to its magnificent cities, views and coastlines. We’ve met people from all walks of life, played the country’s biggest stages, been a part of TV shows, won awards and been privileged to hear our own tracks on the radio! These are precious things to us and we’ve not taken them for granted nor will we forget them. They’ve marked us, made us, and are the bedrock for what’s to come next,” the group says while reminiscing on their illustrious career so far.

“Thank you everyone for supporting us, following us and listening to our music. We’d like to think that when you hear a Gangs track in the future it will remind you of good times!”

The members of the band have all developed other projects which they will now be pursuing full time. Jono is an amazing designer and is currently working on the design for the CR7 brand (Cristiano Ronaldo). Josh has been sessioning for other bands and is also now focusing on his solo album to be released as Josh Scott. Brad has been traveling and starting a management agency with his first signing being Andrew Sutton who is growing rapidly across South Africa. Life has taken it’s course and it’s a matter of moving onto new exciting chapters for all of them.

However, the group plans on leaving fans with some new music as they say goodbye. The group has announced that they will be releasing their third ‘Form and Function’ EP around the end of June with the lead single ‘Black and White’ featuring Jack Parow set to drop on June 6.

Thanks for making music that changed lives, Gangs of Ballet. We’ll miss you.
