Local Afrikaans pop group Die Heuwels Fantasties have dropped two brand-new tracks ahead of the holiday season to set dancefloors around the country alight. The singles arrive hot on the heels of the band’s recent single ‘Jy Stel my Teleur’ which is fast-becoming another massive track from the group.
The first of the two new tracks sees the group step outside of their comfort zone as they drop an English single titled ‘Doin’ It Right’. “For some reason we felt like making an English song. It’s a retro club banger that makes me feel like I’m a winner! The single was recorded at Sunset Recording Studios in Stellenbosch earlier this year. The band then sent the track off to their friend Pierre Pressure in Namibia. “He is a genius when it comes to producing dance-tunes” says Fred den Hartog. “We love what he did with the song. With Pierre Pressure behind the desk, Die Heuwels Fantasties made sure to deliver a track with a mean kicking beat behind the melancholic love-song melodies and lyrics.”
The group has also released a new Afrikaans single. ‘Mejuffrou Sonneblom’ is a fantastic 90`s throwback song. Hunter says: “This song reminds me of a fresh summer breeze at a pool-party.” The group worked with the talented Potchefstroom music-producer Rudolf Willemse on this track. Fred says: “‘Mejuffrou Sonneblom’ is a rollercoaster of emotions that will make your head bang somewhere between 80`s cinema beats and Hunter Kennedy`s machine-gun lyrics. Nostalgia and “South Africanism” is often key to the unique compositions of our songs.”
Both tracks will appear on the group’s upcoming studio album which is set for release in 2020.
