Arriving at the jewel in the crown of South Africa’s Garden Route (per kind courtesy of Mango Airlines), VIP guests, including the executive mayor of Knysna, were treated to not only a stunning view of nature from the gorgeous surrounds in which Villa Constannella is nestled, but also a equally stunning view of the 19 delegates participating in this year’s Mr Gay World contest.
At the well-coordinated press conference, for which Red Dot PR must be congratulated, Mayoress Eleanore Bouw-Spies spoke eloquently from the heart about the inextricable link between the diversity found in nature in her hometown of Knysna and the diversity found in the town’s residents, which is why they so warmly welcome the annual Pink Loerie Arts Festival and Mardi Gras as a celebration of unity in variety. Coupled with incredible support from the Knysna Tourism Board, 2018’s Pink Loeries is without doubt going to be a blast.
The Festival, which both borrows from and adds to the uniqueness of the town, is set to run from May 24 – 27. Celebrating its 18th year, the main purpose of Pink Loerie Mardi Gras and Arts Festival Southern Africa Foundation NPC/NPO is to assist the greater Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) community, in supporting causes and charitable events, providing education and awareness programs, and creating an ethos of care within the community and beyond.
