Twenty- three- year-old medical student Tamaryn Green was crowned Miss South Africa 2018 on Sunday, May 27 at the Sun Arena, Time Square in Pretoria.
The 60th Miss South Africa pageant was indeed a night of glamour as as newly crowned Miss SA, Tamaryn Green, won the countries most prized title and was the first recipient of the new Miss Universe South Africa title. She is set to represent the country at this year’s Miss Universe pageant and her runner up, 26-year-old, University of Cape Town graduate, Thulisa Keyisa, will represent Mzansi at the Miss World competition.
The 60th anniversary of the Miss SA pageant was celebrated with a Diamond Jubilee extravaganza, with former Miss SA title holders gracing the stage, including reigning Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss, Penny Coelen (Miss World), Margaret Gardiner (Miss Universe) and Anneline Kriel (Miss World). Apart from all the glitz and glamour there were fire performances by Sketchy Bongo, DJ Zinhle, Tamara Dey, Lady Zamar and Nádine.
The 23-year-old medical student from Paarl walked away with a prize package worth R3 million, which included R1-million in cash, a year’s accomodation and a car.
