Jam of the Day: Olly Murs – Years & Years

2016 has been an exceptional year for British singer and former The X Factor UK contestant and host, Olly Murs. He released his brand new, fifth studio album ’24 HRS’ and had massive success with his smash hits ‘You Don’t Know Love’, ‘Stevie Knows’ and ‘Grow Up’. Now, the singer is ready to release the next chapter off the album and has chosen the fan-favourite ‘Years & Years’ as the album’s new single.

While the song isn’t anything new or exciting from the star, it’s a piece of pop perfection. Olly has mastered the art of writing hits and this track is bound to be another successful one for the star. The emotional mid-tempo ballad is well-written, catchy and showcases Olly’s incredibly strong vocal ability perfectly. Oh, and we love the choir bit towards the end! The song has all the necessary requirements a perfect pop track needs and it’s nice to see this side of Olly again.

The star reveals that his new album is all about breakups after going through a very public breakup with girlfriend Francesca Thomas last year. “It is a heartbreak album and was difficult to write,” he said. “I am single again and over it but it was tough for a while. I am enjoying life again.” Meanwhile, the new album became Olly’s fourth number-one album, tying him with greats such as One Direction. In fact, Olly has sold over 10 million albums around the world and with tracks like this, we can see why the world is obsessed with the singer.
