Angelina Jolie has reportedly asked her brother to be her maid of honour.

The unconventional actress apparently wants her sibling James Haven to assist with her wedding plans in the traditionally female role. Angelina is set to wed her long-time partner Brad Pitt later this year. The Hollywood couple got engaged in April following a seven-year relationship that has seen them raise six children together.

“James was thrilled to accept his little sister’s offer," a source revealed to British magazine Heat. "Angie has always related to men better than women."

Angelina is known for preferring the company of males over females and the 37-year-old actress has a particularly close relationship with her older brother James, 39.

Angelina famously kissed her brother at the Academy Awards in 2000 and appeared alongside him in movies including Gia and Original Sin. The source close to the star explained that Angelina has always found it easier to bond with the opposite sex.

"As well as growing up with James, she bonded more with the jocks than the cheerleaders in high school," the source continued. © Cover Media
