Victoria Beckham “doesn’t believe a word” of the affair rumours surrounding her husband David and Katherine Jenkins.

Welsh opera singer Katherine posted a statement on her Twitter page at the end of last week after seeing rumours about her and the father-of-four circulating on the social networking site.

Katherine insisted she had only met the married soccer star twice and added that she had sought legal advice after catching wind of the spiteful speculation.

Sources close to the Beckham family say Victoria is incredibly angry.

"They're standing by each other and Victoria doesn't believe a word of the rumours. However, they have left her seething," an insider told British magazine Closer. "David is also fuming because some of their children are at an age where they could catch wind of it.

"Victoria is devastated."

The couple are parents to Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, nine, Cruz, seven and 13-month-old Harper. Victoria and David - who have previously been rocked by affair allegations - are said to be upset that the current crop of speculation has hit them at such a happy time.

"After such a high following the Olympics, which both Victoria and David Beckham were a big part of, this was an appalling situation for the couple. The unfounded suggestion that David was having an affair was incredibly hurtful to their whole family, and it left Victoria and David feeling upset that anyone would want to try and hurt them," a source told UK magazine Heat. © Cover Media
